BILL FUNDING UNIT 2 CONTRACT & HAZARD PAY BONUSES FILED BY GOVERNOR BAKER

We have good news to report. Earlier today, Governor Baker filed the required legislation to fund the Massachusetts Unit 2 contract and our separate agreement on hazard pay bonuses. Since this legislation is not limited to simply funding our contract, there are a number of factors that can impact how quickly the bill moves through the process, including but not limited to what other cost items and/or policy initiatives are included in the budget bill.

Like any other piece of legislation, this budget bill will have to be passed by both the house and senate and will likely be subject to a house/senate conference committee to resolve any differences between the house and senate versions of the bill before it is sent back to Governor Baker to be signed into law. In short, the process can take anywhere from a few weeks to a few months.

However, rest assured that we will be pushing for the legislation to be passed as quickly as possible and we will keep you updated as the bill moves through the legislative process.
