Council 93 City of Boston Locals Ratify 3-Year Contract

Boston Ratification Statement from Council 93 Executive Director Mark Bernard

“Today, AFSCME Council 93 members working for locals throughout the City of Boston voted to ratify a new three-year contract that recognizes their hard work, dedication, and commitment. There was an incredible turnout from the membership who voted overwhelmingly to support their new contract.

Hundreds of members came out to polling locations across the city to voice their support for a contract that provides members with wage increases, more time off, and COVID-19 recognition bonuses for helping to keep basic city services running throughout the pandemic.

Contract negotiations are always challenging and this time was no different. But the team remained determined to secure an agreement that reflected all that our members do for the City of Boston. After two grueling years, public service workers are still on the front lines, keeping our communities safe, healthy, and strong. We owe it to these workers to invest in public services and create more public service jobs in our city.

I want to thank our staff and the dedicated members of our negotiating team, for the countless hours they spent leading up to today’s ratification – a contract that every AFSCME Council 93 member should be proud of tonight.

I also want to thank our members for taking the time to vote today and for supporting the efforts of the team. Congratulations!”
