Mansfield Keeps the Lights On 03/18/2016

MANSFIELD, Mass. – Members of AFSCME Local 1702 have another reason to be proud after receiving a national award for the Mansfield Electric Department's high reliability and few power outages in 2015.

Mansfield Light placed in the top 25 percent for achieving "exceptional electric reliability" in 2015, according to the American Public Power Association based in Arlington, Virginia. The APPA compared Mansfield's reliability data to nationwide data collected by the Energy Information Administration, which independently publishes national data on energy.

Mansfield Light Certificate of Excellence in Reliability
"This honor recognizes utilities that are statistically thriving when it comes to reliability," said APPA Senior Vice President, Engineering Services Michael Hyland.

This is a great acknowledgement of the hard work put in day in and day out by Local 1702 members to keep the lights on for the people of Mansfield. This kind of recognition highlights the great work that AFSCME members do in cities and towns across New England to reliably deliver essential services to the public.

"This award justifies all of our hard work dedication and teamwork," Local 1702 Steward Jeff Hayes said. "We are a proud bunch of guys who show up every day and do their jobs. This award epitomizes what AFSCME and Local 1702 are all about—pride, excellence, dedication, and working hard."
