We have great news to report in our ongoing efforts to get our Massachusetts Higher Education contracts approved and funded by the legislature. This afternoon, the Senate Ways and Means Committee released their version of the supplemental budget and like the house version which passed on March 9th, the Senate budget includes funding for our AFSCME Local 1067 contract and our AFSCME Local 507 contract for our members at UMass Dartmouth.

In addition, thanks to Council 93’s efforts on Beacon Hill over the past week, the senate plan also includes funding for our UMass Amherst Local 1776 members’ contract, even though the contract was ratified by our members just two weeks ago. A vote on senate floor is expected to happen next week.

We will continue to post updates here as the legislation moves forward and continue working hard to get our members their hard-earned and well-deserved pay increases as quickly as possible.
