"Congratulations to the members of AFSCME Local 1700 Duxbury School Custodians on their victory over a short-sited plan to privatize custodial services in Duxbury this morning. These members mobilized a campaign to educate the public on the pitfalls of privatization, were a constant presence at events in town, galvanized support from parents, students, and the community, and ultimately prevailed.

Despite the uncertainty and angst they dealt with on a daily basis as their livelihoods were on the line, dedicated members of Local 1700 were professional and as always dedicated to the students and residents of Duxbury.
