City of Boston Contract Ratification Vote- January 30th

AFSCME Council 93 City of Boston Locals reached two Tentative Contract Agreements with the City of Boston on January 17, 2024. The agreements are for FY2024-2026 and FY2027. Details of the agreements can be found below. A ratification vote is scheduled for January 30th. The Tentative Agreements call for significant base wage gains, more flexible working conditions and scheduling, increased time off, and more with no major givebacks from the Union.

  • 400 Frontage Road- Vending Machine Lobby 7:00am to 3:30pm
  • Franklin Park Garage 7:00am to 3:30pm
  • 1010 Mass Ave- 1st Floor Rear Hallway 7:00am to 3:30pm
  • City Hall- Assessing Lobby 7:00am to 3:30pm
  • 200 Frontage Road- Hallway 6:00am to 3:30pm

AFSCME City of Boston FY 2024-2027 Tentative Contract Agreement

  • Duration 3-Year and 1-Year Contract (FY2024-2026 and FY2027)
  • Base Wage Increases
    • October 2023 2% Raise / January 2024 $500 Base Wage Increase
    • October 2024 2% Raise / January 2025 $250 Base Wage Increase
    • October 2025 2% Raise / January 2026 $900 Base Wage Increase
    • October 2026 2% Raise / January 2027 $800 Base Wage Increase
    • Total 10.5% to 16.6% Base Wage Increases from 2023-2027
      • These significant wage gains will help address Recruitment and Retention Issues and alleviate short staffing in City Departments
    • Retro payment from October 1, 2023
  • Hours of Work and Working Conditions
    • Rolling 40-hours of accrued Comp Time for OT
    • Optional Four Day Work Week
      • Four 8.75 Hour or 10 Hour Days
      • Subject to operational needs
    • Hybrid Work Policy Remains in Effect
      • Hybrid Employees are not eligible for Four Day Work Week
    • Streamline Compensation and Grade Appeal Process
      • CGA Outcomes are now Grievable
    • Night Shift Differential $40/week
      • Any employee who works 4-hours or more on a regular shift from 6:00pm to 8:00am
      • Night Shift Differential Start Time Rolled back from 7:00pm to 6:00pm
    • Mileage Set to IRS Standard Rate currently $0.67/mile up from $0.30/mile
  • Time Off / Leave
    • Increase from 2 to 3 Personal Days
      • 1 Additional Sick Day can be converted to a Personal Day
    • Probationary Employees eligible to accrue and use Sick Time
  • Misc
    • Training and Career Ladder Fund Increase by $20,000
    • Clothing and Footwear Allowance Increased to $300/year
    • MBTA Pass pre-tax subsidy of 65%
