COVID-19: AFSCME Corrections Preparedness, Prevention and Management
A recent study out of Stanford University concluded that COVID-19 spreads faster in a correctional facility than it does on a cruise ship.
Even with expanding vaccine availability, congregate settings such a prisons and jails are still high-risk workplaces. Outbreaks at correctional facilities are not only a potential life-threatening health danger to employees, their families, colleagues, and inmates. They also put incredible pressure and additional dangers on front-line Officers when facilities become critically understaffed due virus-related absences.

• Assess the risk of workplace exposure to COVID-19 and operational preparedness.
• Define key steps in worker prevention, protection and infection control to COVID-19.
• Identify methods to prevent and respond to COVID-19 exposure in the workplace.
