“AFSCME Council 93 congratulates Boston Mayor Marty Walsh on his nomination by President-Elect Joe Biden to be our nation’s next Secretary of Labor. This is somewhat of a bittersweet moment for our union in that we are losing a mayor who has been a fierce advocate for organized labor and truly respects and appreciates the important work our members do every day for the citizens of Boston. However, we know the benefits of having Marty’s leadership and advocacy for workers across America will far surpass what we are losing at Boston City Hall. We thank Mayor Walsh for his strong support over many years as Mayor and State Representative, we wish him all the best, and we look forward to continuing to work with him for many years to come”
