Council 93 Endorsement Profile: Diana DiZoglio, Candidate for Auditor

The elected leaders of AFSCME Council 93 are unanimously backing Diana DiZoglio in her campaign to be the next State Auditor of Massachusetts.

In this race, it really comes down to who we believe will make the most out of the position and who will fight the hardest for the issues important to our members. Diana DiZoglio, a former State Representative and current State Senator, has a rock solid labor voting record. She has also committed to defending the Pacheco Law, and has even earned the endorsement of State Senator and longtime AFSCME friend Marc Pacheco. But most importantly, we believe she will make the most of the under-utilized yet very powerful position of State Auditor.

She has been very vocal about her willingness to take on fights that other auditors have ignored. She was the first candidate in the race to commit to the audit of the vast human services vendor system, which was the cornerstone of our candidate questionnaire in this race. Billions of dollars are awarded every year to hundreds of private human services providers in Massachusetts with a large percentage of these taxpayer funds going exclusively to executive pay, yet no state auditor has had the courage and resolve to audit this system. Diana DiZoglio is different. She’s not making excuses as to why she wouldn’t be able to do certain things. She’s more interested in demonstrating the resolve to use the office to get the information she’d need to take on tough fights like the vast and unchecked human services vendor system.

The Commonwealth has had just two State Auditors in the last 36 years, so we need to make sure we put a strong fighter in this open seat. We are convinced that Diana DiZoglio is that person and will make the most of this important office.

DiZoglio has been endorsed by numerous labor unions and the Massachusetts AFL-CIO. We respectfully urge our members to support Diana DiZoglio for State Auditor in the primary election on September 6, 2022 and again in the general election on November 8. Click here to find out more.
