Staff the Front Lines Tour Stops in Boston

The AFSCME Staff the Front Lines National Bus Tour stopped in Boston today to highlight the need for more public service workers to fill the critical jobs that keep our communities running. Across the country, there are over 800,000 public sector job openings. In just the City of Boston and the Commonwealth of Massachusetts, there are over 1,000 vacant AFSCME positions. Chronic understaffing is making those jobs harder than ever.
To ensure our communities are safe, healthy and strong, we must staff the front lines!
In response to this crisis, AFSCME is conducting a national bus tour to raise awareness of this problem and to partner with employers to recruit talented, diverse and dedicated people. The bus has already made stops in more than 20 communities across the country, and today came to Boston!
AFSCME International staff faclitated a listening session with Council 93 members and Staff; Community Partners; and leaders from the Commonwealth of Massachusetts, the City of Boston, and the Department of Higher Education to discuss the challenges and potential solutions to the staffing crisis in Massachusetts.
