But at least one Senator is speaking out on labor issues.  On Tuesday, Sen. Elizabeth Warren of Massachusetts addressed AFSCME's International Vice Presidents at the union's headquarters.

BOSTON - A committee of American Federation of State, County and Municipal Employees (AFSCME) union leaders representing more than 2,000 men and women working for the City of Boston today voted unanimously to endorse State Representative Martin Walsh's candidacy for Mayor of Boston.

AFSCME Council 93 applauds the decision by SEIU to withdraw from the home care worker union election in Vermont. Their decision means that the more than 7,000 home care workers can now focus on working with AFSCME to secure better wages, benefits and training that will make them even better caregivers than they are now. This is a victory not only for the workers, but for the thousands of individuals and families who rely on them for quality care.

Brookline — It's not often that a public employee union finds itself thanking a group that tried to prevent a union contract from being funded. But an effort by Brookline PAX at last week's Town Meeting calls for just that.

A six-month legislative campaign spearheaded by AFSCME and aimed at providing Vermont's home care providers with collective bargaining rights ended triumphantly today when Governor Peter Shumlin signed SB59.

The law paves the way for AFSCME to complete a nearly two-year effort to organize these essential public caregivers and help them reap the benefits and respect that comes with being a union member.

A small team of AFSCME members running the town wastewater treatment plant in Uxbridge, MA recently received New England-wide recognition from the United States Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) for "exceptional work in operating and maintaining the plant."
