Council 93 Volunteer Member Organizers (VMOs) continue to make a tremendous impact in ongoing efforts by AFSCME International (www.afscme.org) to organize approximately 6,000 home care workers in the State of Vermont.

Council 93 has a new leader on the AFSCME International Executive Board.  Executive Director Frank Moroney has been chosen by Council 93 members to fill the vacant International Vice President seat for the Northern New England region. Moroney was nominated for the position last month by a unanimous vote of the AFSCME Local 804 Executive Board.  He will fill the remainder of a four-year term that will expire in 2016.

The work of public employees is often a thankless job with many people taking for granted the important contributions we make to our states, counties and local communities.

The results of the 2012 Election represented a major victory for labor unions across the nation, but few regions of the country fared as well or better than the four states represented by AFSCME Council 93.

Solid victories in Massachusetts, Maine, New Hampshire and Vermont have Council leaders and members celebrating this morning and taking great pride in their grassroots efforts that helped recapture a U.S. Senate seat, two Republican Congressional seats and deliver 22 Electoral College votes towards President Barack Obama’s impressive re-election victory.
